EAA: E-AB Fatal Accidents Have Fallen Dramatically In FY 2013

NTSB Data Shows Overall GA Accident Rate Remained Flat

The number of experimental category aircraft fatal accidents fell by 25 percent in fiscal year 2013 according to FAA figures. Year-to-year fatal aviation accidents involving experimental aircraft totaled 55 during FY 2013, down from 73 in 2012. Lives lost this year totaled 70 people compared to 85 in 2012 - an 18 percent decrease.

New Fuel System Makes SD-1 Minisport Ethanol Resistant

S-LSA Certification Expected In November

The builders of the SD-1 Minisport have data showing the airplane already burns less fuel than any other Light Sport Aircraft – just 1.8 gph. Since it runs on 91-octane automotive gas, the SD-1’s operational cost is just $12 an hour factoring in fuel, oil, and overhaul. Until now however, the SD-1 has only been able to use ethanol-free gasoline.
