CAF Capital Wing Continues Restoration of BT-13

WWII Trainer to Commemorate Legendary Aviator and Patriot

The CAF’s Virginia-based Capital Wing is tasked with the stewardship of warbirds the likes of Grumman’s TBF Avenger, Stinson’s L-5 Sentinel, Fairchild’s UC-61 Forwarder, and Vultee’s BT-13 Valiant—a basic trainer used by the United States Army Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, and even the U.S. Coast Guard. That the BT-13 Valiant was as ubiquitous and useful in the 1940s as it is unknown in the 2020s is a wrong the CAF is endeavoring to set right.

MQ-8 Fire Scout Demonstration Successful

New Rotary Wing UAV Participates in “Resolute Hunter” Exercise

The Navy’s shiny new MQ-8C Fire Scout had the chance to strut its stuff at this year’s exercise, flying a total of 23 hours and providing some real-life demonstration of the uncrewed helicopter’s capabilities. The test took place off the coast of California, where Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 23 remotely directed the MQ-8 through a hand-off to an alternate control point offshore.

Air Center Assists in Pararescue Training Week

Airbus Helos Get Workout During Simulated Rescue Scenarios

Airbus customer Air Center Helicopters took part in a USAF pararescue training exercise, lending a portion of its fleet to train offshore rescue operations. Air Center was a prime candidate to assist with the training, being the proud owner of 16 H225s and 4 H125s for use in their transport operations. Their body of expertise allowed them to bring that knowledge to bear during a skill level upgrade course for the Air Force’s premier Special Operators.
