Unmanned Squadron in Hawaii Will Receive First of 8 Aircraft by 2024
The Navy’s Air Systems Command awarded a $135.8 million contract to General Atomics Aeronautical Systems for 8 brand new MQ-9A Extended Range uncrewed aircraft, slated for delivery by the end of 2023. The order adds the most updated, modern rendition of the longstanding MQ-9A, with enhanced range, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities vital for use by the Marine Expeditionary Force. The MQ-9 ER in particular boasts up to 34 hours of endurance, adding more capability over the older MQ-9s already in service.
