Helicopter Crew Hoisted And Transported All Nine Crew Members To A Nearby Rig
The Coast Guard rescued 9 people last week from a rig on fire near Sabine Pass, Texas. Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders received a notification at 12:51 p.m. from the dredging vessel Ohio that the Pride Wisconsin, a mobile offshore drilling unit, was on fire in Sabine Pass with nine people aboard. Watchstanders issued an urgent marine information broadcast and launched a Coast Guard Station Sabine Pass 45-foot Response Boat–Medium crew and an Air Station Houston MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew to assist.
Aircraft has Been Modified To Utilize The Latest Infrared (IR) Sensing Technology
Textron has delivered two Beechcraft King Air 260 aircraft to the U.S. Forest Service. The aircraft will perform wildfire mapping missions. The King Air 260 aircraft have been modified for the installation of the latest infrared (IR) sensing technology, the Overwatch Imaging TK-9 Earthwatch Airborne Sensor, along with legacy U.S. Forest Service sensors, that can accurately map wildfires, even at night and through smoke.
The C-47 Texas Zephyr is scheduled to arrive at its home base hangar, the Highland Lakes Squadron in Burnet, TX, this September 5th. The finishing touches on the aircraft are being made in Brady, TX where the aircraft has undergone a massive restoration since 2019 when it was donated to the CAF by Brady resident, Karl Ritter. Supply chain issues and labor shortages caused by COVID-19 have caused lengthy delays. Members of the Highland Lakes Squadron are elated to finally bring the C-47 home.

Alaska Air National Guardsmen of the 176th Wing rescued five people from three separate incidents Aug. 11 and 12 at different locations throughout Southcentral and Interior Alaska. For the first rescue mission Aug. 11, the Alaska Rescue Coordination Center received a report from the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport Air Traffic Control tower that a Cessna 172 crashed about 20 miles south of Anchorage on the Kenai Peninsula.

On July 23, 2022, at 1331 Pacific daylight time, a North American T-28B, N787AS, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Fallbrook, California. The pilot was serious injured and the pilot-rated passenger was fatally injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight.
