600-Plus CAP Members Expected As Recognition Of Milestone Anniversary Begins

More than 600 Civil Air Patrol members are planning to gather in Louisville, KY, this month, as the all-volunteer U.S. Air Force Auxiliary begins its observance of 70 years of service to America. CAP officially celebrates its 70th anniversary on Dec. 1 of this year, but will get started early at the 2011 Annual Conference and National Board meeting Aug. 17-20.

Army General To Lead Afghanistan Chinook Investigation

Army Brig. Gen. Jeffrey Colt will conduct the investigation of the crash of a CH-47 Chinook helicopter in Afghanistan that killed 38 U.S. and Afghan service members, U.S. Central Command officials announced Aug. 9.
