USAF Thunderbirds Among Units Resuming Limited Training Flights

But Performances Are Still Not On The Schedule

The Pentagon has loosened restrictions on flying hours for many Air Force units both in the U.S. and abroad for training purposes, meaning that units like the Thunderbirds will be able to resume their training schedules through the end of fiscal year 2013. But don't get your hopes up if you had the Thunderbirds on the schedule at your local air show. The Air Force said in a statement on its website that the team will not resume aerial demonstrations previously scheduled for the 2013 calendar year.

The U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels, announced the officers selected for the 2014 team July 12. The squadron selected an administrative officer and a public affairs officer to join a pre-selected C-130 pilot and a maintenance officer on the 2014 team.

No Military Aircraft For Miramar Air Show

Event Will Possibly Be Canceled Entirely

Despite a resolution from the San Diego City Council and evidence that shows the event actually makes money, the Pentagon is holding firm to its policy that there will be no military flight demonstrations due to sequestration and will not allow such flights at the Miramar Air Show this fall.
