Will Allow Crews To Practice Carrier Landings In A Controlled Environment Closely Duplicating Conditions At Sea

The Navy commenced the first E-2 Hawkeye and C-2 Greyhound Field Carrier Landing Practice (FCLP) operations at Wallops Flight Facility Nov. 4, following a ceremony to commemorate an agreement with NASA to support FCLP training for E-2 and C-2 squadrons operating from Naval Station Norfolk Chambers Field.

Pratt & Whitney, IHI Sign Contract For Japan F135 Engines

Agreement Includes Industrial Participation To Support Japanese Fleet

IHI Corporation has signed a contract with Pratt & Whitney to qualify components for the Japanese fleet of F135 engines that power the 5th generation F-35 Lightning II fighter aircraft. Pratt & Whitney and IHI are also working on a series of industrial participation stand-up contracts for additional F135 capability and in-country F135 final assembly.

New B-52 Upgrade To Increase Smart Weapons Capacity By Half

USAF Contracts With Boeing For Modifications

A a new U.S. Air Force contract with Boeing calls for the aircraft’s smart weapons capacity to expand by 50 percent. Under the $24.6 million agreement, Boeing will develop a modification to existing weapon launchers so the aircraft can carry smart weapons in the bomb bay, allowing aircrews to use the B-52’s entire weapons capacity.
