NTSB Issues Prelim In Kansas Citation Accident

Airplane Flew Erratically Before Impacting Terrain

The NTSB has issued a preliminary report stemming from an accident near Derby, KS involving a Cessna Citation which impacted the ground in a near-vertical dive, according to witnesses. The accident resulted in the fatal injury of the two people on board the airplane.

New pilot training rules have been issued by the FAA that will affect pilots training for the Airline Transport Pilot certificate, and those pilots that are already employed by an airline. The final rule stems, in part, from the crash of Colgan Air 3407 in February 2009, and addresses a Congressional mandate in the Airline Safety and Federal Aviation Administration Extension Act of 2010. The private owners of Solberg Airport, a public-use airport, in Readington Township, New Jersey have been fighting an ongoing legal battle with the township board that is attempting to take over the airport through eminent domain laws.
