Sunset... F-15C Eagle Weapons School Takes A Bow At Nellis AFB

The F-15C Eagle Entered The USAF Inventory In 1979

The United States Air Force is continuing to modernize its future fighter force, and part of that evolution includes the sunsetting of the F-15C Eagle division of the United States Air Force Weapons School Weapons Instructor Course. The single-seat F-15C Eagle entered the U.S. Air Force inventory in 1979, and weapons officers have been trained on the aircraft’s tactics at the Weapons School at Nellis Air Force Base since 1978. Those years of tradition came to an end Dec. 8, as the last cadre of students and instructors flew the final defensive counter air vulnerability for Weapons Instructor Course 21-B.

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems unveiled their newest UAV, and descended of their successful MQ-9 Reaper and MQ-1C Gray Eagle military aircraft. The enhanced 450 horsepower turboprop and improved lift devices address longstanding complaints of the limited payloads and forward-basing requirements.

2nd MAW Stands Ready, Reliable, and Safe, Says Commanding Officer

The 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing celebrated its 80th anniversary this year, closing out 2021 with a look back on the unit's many journeys and missions. The MAW is based out of MCAS Cherry Point, North Carolina, but can often be found anywhere in the world. The wing was officially born in 1941, and is now home to a full suite of Marine Corps fixed wing and rotary aircraft, including the stalwart AH-1Z Viper, the increasingly rare AV-8B Harrier, and its replacement, the F-35B Lightning II.
