First DA50 RG Demonstrator Lands In The UK

Diamond Aircraft Distributor For The UK, Gemstone Aviation, Shows Off New Aircraft

The latest aircraft in the Diamond Family, the DA50RG, will be available in the UK and Ireland through Gemstone Aviation. On Friday, August 6th, the first public showing of the DA50 RG in the UK took place at Leeds East Airport. “The 5-seat DA50 RG fits well into the UK market, and with a maximum takeoff weight under 2,000 kg it weighs in just under the threshold for paying Eurocontrol charges. This will give the DA50 RG the lowest operating costs in its class,” said Henrik Burkal, Director at Gemstone Aviation.

The AEA’s Second Half Avionics Report Exceeds $1 Billion

In the first six months of the year, total worldwide business and general aviation avionics sales amounted to $1,069,737,831, as reported by the participating companies. 75.2% of the YTD sales volume occurred in the U.S. and Canada, while 24.8% took place in other markets internationally, according to companies that separated these sales figures. Retrofit sales take the lead with 55% of the total sales for the first half of 2021 while forward-fit sales amounted to 45% Figures represented a 7.1% decrease in total sales for Q1 of 2021 as compared to Q1 of 2020. NTSB: Air Carrier Turbulence-Related Injuries Can Be Reduced

NTSB Holds Public Meeting on Reducing Turbulence In-Flight Operations

The NTSB held a public meeting on Tuesday, August 10th, recommending that the FAA, National Weather Service and airline industry associations take the recommended actions to reduce the incidence of turbulence-related injuries in flight operations. NTSB Prelim: Cessna 150F

The Airplane’s Engine Needed To Be Hand-Propped Due To A “Weak Starter”

On July 24, 2021, about 1830 central daylight time, a Cessna 150F, N7893F, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Rock Falls, Illinois. The two pilots were not injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight. According to one of the pilots, the two pilots met each other at an aviation event just prior to the accident flight. After a short discussion, the two pilots decided to conduct a local flight in the accident airplane.
