EAA AirVenture 2023 to Feature Expanded Youth Activities

A new Youth Welcome Center is the latest addition to an expanding list of activities by which young people stand to be contemporaneously educated and entertained at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2023. The 70th iteration of the Experimental Aircraft Association’s famed fly-in convention—the largest of its kind in the wide world—will span the week of 24 through 30 July at Oshkosh, Wisconsin’s Wittman Regional Airport (OSH).

Honeywell Vets Anthem Integrated Flight-Deck

Milestone Avionics Suite Completes First Flight

Honeywell Aerospace, the storied aero-engine and avionics marque, announced that its Pilatus PC-12 test aircraft had successfully completed the first test flight of the company’s Anthem integrated flight deck. Although Honeywell Anthem has been in flight test for more than a year and has accumulated upwards of 120 hours of flight time, the 12 May flight was the first wholly managed by the next-generation avionics suite.

The Restless Dreams of Youth

Dreams will take flight for young people during the 30th annual International Young Eagles Day to be observed Saturday, 10 June 2023. The yearly event is undertaken to encourage all EAA members and chapters to participate in the Young Eagles program, thereby passing the challenges and rewards of aviation on to a new generation. In EAA parlance, Young Eagles are children, ages 8 to 17, who are taken aloft in the personal aircraft of EAA members that they may experience the joys and wonders of flight—often for the first time in their young lives.

NTSB Prelim: Pool Cessna 172

Pilot’s Family Notified Local Authorities That The Flight Was Overdue

On May 6, 2023, about 1000 mountain daylight time, a Pool-Cessna airplane, N15188, was destroyed when it was involved in an accident near Victor, Colorado. The pilot and 3 passengers were fatally injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight. According to the airport manager, the flight departed the Fremont County Airport (1V6), Canon City, Colorado, about 0920, with an intended destination of Centennial Airport (APA), Centennial, Colorado.
