Transport Commissioner Says Sanctions Against Member States May Be Required
For the past decade, the European Union has been trying to consolidate air traffic control for the continent into nine regional blocks, rather than the 27 individual national airspaces currently in place across Europe. But the "Single European Sky II" initiative is seriously off track, according to European Commissioner for Transport Siim Kallas.
First Major Revision Of The Document In More Than 20 Years
The FAA’s Office of Airports recently updated the Airport Design Advisory Circular (AC) 150/5300-13A, the first major rewrite of the AC in more than 20 years. This AC is critical to the aviation industry because it outlines the standards and recommendations used for the development of airport layout plans and airport construction projects.
The NTSB has released its preliminary report in an accident involving a Cirrus SR22 which went down on approach near Gary, IN, October 3. The flight had originated in St. Augustine, FL, and both people on board the airplane were fatally injured when it impacted terrain. But beyond the initial facts, the report offers few clues as to what may have gone wrong on the approach.
