NTSB Chair Deborah A.P. Hersman held her first public forum at AirVenture Wednesday. The chair of the safety board appeared in Forum Pavilion 7 with EAA president and CEO Rod Hightower, talking about the various functions of the agency, and answering questions from the somewhat sparse crowd that turned out to see her. Sitting in the front row of the audience were all of the members of the board, and each was introduced by Hersman. NTSB Prelim Released In YAK-52 Fly-In Accident

Had Been Performing Formation Aerobatics When It Went Down, Resulting In Two Fatal Injuries

The NTSB has released a preliminary report in an accident involving a YAK-52 airplane performing formation aerobatics during a fly-in at Moontown Airport in Brownsboro, AL. The accident resulted in the fatal injury of the pilot, 74-year-old George Myers who was also the owner of the airport, and Christian Schmidtt, a 17-year-old student pilot who was also on board.
