USAF and USMC Partnerships Advance eVTOL

Joby Aviation, the California-based, Toyota-backed designer and builder of Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) vehicles, is expanding its existing contract with the U.S. Air Force’s Agility Prime program—an initiative the service launched in 2020 to experiment, test, and generally hasten the development of eVTOL for cross commercial and military use. Joby’s Department of Defense (DOD) contract now includes a partnership with the U.S. Marine Corps, which will test the suitability of Joby’s eVTOL to non-combat missions such as resupply, relocation of personnel, and emergency medical response.

The Ohio Air & Space Hall of Fame and Learning Center (OAS) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit about the noble work of connecting students, scholars, and visitors of any and all bents with the achievements of Ohioan aerospace pioneers the likes of the Wright Brothers, Eddie Rickenbacker, John Glenn, and Neil Armstrong—to name a few. The organization will presently set about the work of renovating the historic Port Columbus terminal and tower into its new home. The work will be funded in part by a $275,000 grant from the City of Columbus.
