Amazon has announced that customers in Lockeford, California, will start receiving package deliveries by drone later this year. The community of 3,500 will be among the first U.S. locations to receive free drone delivery of Amazon products within 30 minutes. Amazon has begun contacting customers in Lockeford for purpose of inquiring after their interest in drone delivery. Once enrolled, customers will be visited by Amazon personnel who will determine whether or not the areas adjacent the customer’s homes are conducive to drone deliverie

Da-Jiang Innovations (DJI), the Chinese technology company whose name translates to Great Frontier Innovations, has announced the release of its Matrice-30 and Matrice-30T flight platforms. The two drones constitute the company’s M30 series, and provide DJI customers a level of performance and function that falls squarely between that of the highly-portable (read “smaller”) Mavic 2 Enterprise Advanced vehicle; and the workhorse, Matrice 300 model.

Instrument Departure Procedure (DP) A preplanned instrument flight rule (IFR) departure procedure published for pilot use, in graphic or textual format, that provides obstruction clearance from the terminal area to the appropriate en route structure. There are two types of DP, Obstacle Departure Procedure (ODP), printed either textually or graphically, and, Standard Instrument Departure (SID), which is always printed graphically.
