FAA Proposes $576,400 Civil Penalty Against FL-Based Bluefin Aviation Services

Company Allegedly Conducted Illegal Charter Flights

The FAA has been on the warpath lately with a series of fines and certificate actions that are creating concern and a sense of caution throughout the aviation community. The U.S. Department of Transportations Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) proposes a $576,400 civil penalty against Bluefin Aviation Services of Opa-Locka, Fla., for allegedly conducting illegal charter flights. The FAA alleges that in September 2019 and October 2019, Bluefin conducted at least 26 illegal for-hire flights using a Cessna 402B airplane to transport passengers or cargo between airports in Florida and the Bahamas. Will Be Operated As A Joint Facility With Jet Aviation

Gulfstream has opened a new company-owned service center at Palm Beach International Airport. The facility, shared with Jet Aviation, will have a hangar for each company and shared office space. “Gulfstream has had a presence in Palm Beach for almost 20 years with the capability to accommodate all Gulfstream models,” said Derek Zimmerman, president, Gulfstream Customer Support. “We are excited to open a state-of-the-art facility that will offer world-class service to a greater number of Gulfstream aircraft simultaneously. The Left Engine Started "Surging" And Rapidly Began To Lose Power

On August 1, 2020, about 1000 eastern daylight time, a Piper PA-31-325, Canadian registration C-GXKS, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident in Sumter, South Carolina. The pilot and co-pilot sustained minor injuries. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 aerial observation flight. According to the pilot-in-command (PIC), he and the co-pilot had been flying mapping flights for the United States Geological Survey group. AD: Pacific Aerospace Limited Airplanes

AD 2020-17-08 Describes The Unsafe Condition As Insufficient Electrical Bonding Of The Wing Lightning Protection Panels

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for Pacific Aerospace Limited Model 750XL airplanes with wing lightning protection panels installed. This AD results from mandatory continuing airworthiness information (MCAI) issued by the aviation authority of another country to identify and correct an unsafe condition on an aviation product. The MCAI describes the unsafe condition as insufficient electrical bonding of the wing lightning protection panels. The FAA is issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products. This AD is effective September 14, 2020.
