Catalina Aircraft, holder of the Type Certificates for the 28-5ACF Catalina, has announced the rebirth of the iconic and legendary Catalina as the Catalina II Amphibious Turboprop. A production re-start program has been formalized for the Next Generation Amphibious Aircraft (NGAA) Catalina II twin turboprop amphibious flying boat, and the company is preparing to take pre-orders. One of the more avidly anticipated displays is the promised Wisk flight demonstration here at Wittman Field. Eve Air Mobility Opens Factory with Embraer

Brazil Home to EVE's First Mass Production Facility

Eve Air Mobility announced the location of its first production facility, naming the Brazilian state of São Paulo. The location will be located inside of expanded Embraer facilities. The company says the site "benefits from a strategic logistical location, offering easy access via two highways and close proximity to a railroad". In all likelihood, the firm also likes the labor costs of the region, too, though its proximity to nearby Embraer HQ and the EVE engineering department will help smooth out the transition to full production.

MD Helicopters Begins STC Process for Rolls-Royce 250-C30 Engined MD 520N

New Upgrade Offers 300 Lbs Payload, 15% more SHP, and 15% TOT Margins

MD Helicopters expects certification on a new STC for the MD 520N Helicopter by the end of 2023, adding a good deal of power and high-altitude performance. The STC will see the installation of the Rolls-Royce 250-C30 engine in the N-model 520, adding 300 pounds of payload, 15% more shaft horsepower on a hot day, a 15% increase of TOT margins, and better overall maintenance costs over the life of the aircraft. Once approved, the STC kit will be available at MDH Service Centers, with the upgrades taking about 2 months to reach completion on each aircraft.
