After a series of successful operations in 2021, Romanian border police are once again utilizing Schiebel’s unmanned, S-100 CAMCOPTER to carry out general coast guard functions. The operations—which encompass day-to-day monitoring and surveillance of shipping activity, port security, accident and disaster response, and search-and-rescue operations—commenced in March, 2022 and are scheduled to continue until August. Romanian Border Police carried out 50 missions in the first two months of 2022 operations, during which the S-100 accumulated more than 170 hours.
FAA Approved OEM Program Increases Power and Useful Load of Popular Model
MD Helicopters has developed a program to upgrade its popular, MD500E helicopter. The FAA approved program transforms the MD 500E into the more powerful and capable type-certified MD 530F. The “E”-to-“F” conversion program consists primarily of: an engine swap from the Rolls Royce 250-C20B to the more powerful RR250-C30; new main and tail-rotor blades; and upgraded, “F” model, main-rotor gearbox and tail-rotor drive-shaft. Forty-Hour Curriculum Focuses on Improving Part 135 Safety, Efficiency, and Profitability
The Academy College Learning Institute in Bloomington, MN has launched a two-week, forty-hour, intensive, on-line course designed to help non-certified flight operation staff-members achieve certification as Charter Flight Coordinators. The course focuses on the day-to-day aspects of Part 135 operations and familiarizes students with aircraft types, air-charter regulatory compliance, charter sales orthodoxy, and means by which to accelerate and grow charter operations.
Paris-Based Operator States New Aircraft Will Provide Access to New Client Base
Textron Aviation announced that Luxaviation Group is the first European customer for the Cessna Citation M2 Gen2 light business aircraft. Paris-based Luxaviation Group is among the largest, private aircraft operators in the world.
