Gulfstream Aerospace’s G280TM, has been out and about... while setting another city-pair speed record. On Feb. 16, the aircraft departed Vermont’s Burlington International Airport, arriving 6 hours and 10 minutes later with a steep-approach landing at London City Airport. The 2,735-nautical mile trans-Atlantic journey was completed at an average speed of Mach 0.83. Aircraft that operate at London City require steep-approach certification because of the airport’s short runway and stringent noise-abatement requirements. The G280 has amassed 75 city-pair records. Significant Fee Increases Proposed – From 29% Up To 54%

Responding to notification of significant fee increases for Customs and Border Protection (CBP) services at several U.S. airports, the NBAA and other aviation associations are urging the acting CBP commissioner to consider alternatives in addressing possible budget shortfalls. Last week, many airports that support international operations with CBP inspection facilities funded by the user fee program received notice of a significant fee increase – from 29% up to 54% – with nearly immediate effect. The Small UAV Coalition has announced that Workhorse (WKHS) has joined the Coalition as an Associate member. Workhorse joins the Coalition on the heels of a successful effort in partnership with the Virginia Center for Innovative Technology (CIT) and other industry leaders to test how unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) can augment coronavirus response efforts. As Governor Ralph Northam commented, “Drones can be an important way to deliver medical supplies while people stay home to adhere to our social distancing guidelines.”

A/C Substantially Damaged After Veering Off The Runway

On March 14, 2020, about 1600 mountain standard time, a Raytheon Aircraft Company Hawker 800XP, N100AG, was substantially damaged after veering off the runway and impacting a sign at the Scottsdale Airport, Scottsdale, Arizona. The pilot and co-pilot were not injured. The airplane was being operated under the provisions of Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 as a personal flight.
