Two More Aircraft Enter The Flight Testing Schedule
Gulfstream has deployed their second and third Gulfstream G700 test aircraft, further advancing toward certification and customer deliveries. The second G700 flight-test aircraft had its first voyage on March 20, departing Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport (SAV) and flying for 2 hours and 58 minutes. The aircraft reached an altitude of 45,000 feet and a speed of Mach 0.85. Also departing from SAV, the third flight-test aircraft flew for the first time this past week, soaring over Savannah for 3 hours and 2 minutes. It also reached an altitude of 45,000 ft and a speed of Mach 0.85.
Matternet's M2 Drone Approved To Start D&R Testing
Matternet claims that it has reached a major milestone in the FAA's Type Certification process for UAS. After meeting FAA requirements, the Matternet M2 drone system is approved to start Durability and Reliability (D&R) testing, one of the final steps to be granted Type Certification. Achieving Type Certification will mean that the Matternet M2 system has been deemed airworthy by the FAA and is eligible to be used by commercial air carriers. Due to ongoing concerns caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, and for the health and safety of the unmanned aviation community, the FAA and AUVSI have made the decision to host the 5th Annual FAA UAS Symposium virtually instead of in-person in Baltimore. "Recognizing the value of this symposium to driving engagement between the commercial UAS industry and the FAA, we are confirming a series of virtual events that will address the important content already planned for this year’s program," event organizers noted.

Historically, Embraer seasonally has fewer deliveries during the first quarter of the year, and in 2020 in particular, the commercial aircraft deliveries in the first quarter were also negatively impacted by the conclusion of the separation of Embraer's Commercial Aviation unit in January.
