Joby Aviation Secures $100M In Series B Funding

Company Hopes To Make Electric Vertical Take-off And Landing Transportation A Reality

Joby Aviation has secured $100M in Series B financing to take its all-electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) passenger aircraft into pre-production and certification. The financing was led by Intel Capital, and includes strategic investors Singapore-based EDBI, JetBlue Technology Ventures, and Toyota AI Ventures. Also participating are new investors Allen & Company, AME Cloud Ventures, and Ron Conway, as well as existing investors Capricorn Investment Group, 8VC, Sky Dayton and Paul Sciarra.

Leonardo Strengthens Support Of Japanese Helicopter Fleets

Opens First 'Excellent' Service Center In The Country

A Service Center Agreement has been signed between Leonardo and Shizuoka Air Commuter Corporation (SACC) of Japan to set up helicopter MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) capabilities in Mt. Fuji Shizuoka Airport. The agreement foresees the construction and completion of a new dedicated hangar in 2018, with operational readiness by spring 2019. The MRO center will support the successful AW109 series and AW139 aircraft models with an annual capacity of up to 24 units and potential to grow its capacity based on market demand.

Airbus Completes First Flight For Its Commercial Parcel Delivery Drone

‘Skyways’ Demonstration Held At The National University Of Singapore

Airbus Helicopters’ Skyways unmanned air vehicle has successfully completed its first flight demonstration at the National University of Singapore (NUS). The drone took off from its dedicated maintenance center and landed on the roof of a specially designed parcel station where a parcel was automatically loaded via a robotic arm. Once successfully loaded with the parcel, the Skyways drone took off again and returned to land, demonstrating its automatic unloading capability.
