Long Island Airport Moving to Private Operation

East Hampton Prohibits Public, Commercial Use at Local Airport

East Hampton, in Long Island, New York, is making an unusual change to its small regional airport. The anti-private aviation East Hampton Town Board approved a resolution to deactivate East Hampton Airport (HTO) through a temporary closure on March 1, and reopen it three days later as a “new airport,” a private-use facility subject to prior permission. The board says the change will greatly reduce the noise and traffic in the area, something long requested by locals. Finds New Chief Test Pilot In Flight Test Program

Lilium has brought PHX2, one of its 5th generation technology demonstrators to the ATLAS Flight Test Center in Villacarrillo, Spain. The center will be the new home to Lilium's test program as they take their prototype to higher speeds over longer distances, expanding the testing program beyond its birthplace's German borders. NTSB Prelim: Eurocopter Deutschland GMBH EC 135 P2+

He Saw A Helicopter “Very Low…Very Loud…Banked Right And Left Out Of Control..."

On January 11, 2022, about 1255 eastern standard time, a Eurocopter EC-135 P2+, N531LN, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania. The airline transport pilot was seriously injured. The two medical crewmembers and the patient were not injured. The helicopter was operated by Air Methods Corporation as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 135 air ambulance flight. Preliminary Automatic Dependent Surveillance - Broadcast (ADS-B) data revealed that the helicopter departed Chambersburg Hospital Heliport (PA60) about 1205 and was destined for Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Heliport (9PN2)
