The Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA) has recognized FedEx Express Capt. John Kohne with its annual Pilot Assistance Award for his many years of exemplary service in building and maintaining pilot assistance programs at his airline and many other ALPA pilot groups. The award was presented Wednesday at ALPA’s Pilot Assistance Forum in Dulles, VA.

Delta Announces Plan To Return More Than $1 Billion To Shareholders

Board Of Directors Authorizes $500 Million Share Repurchase

In a broad financial plan released Wednesday, Delta Air Lines  announced a balanced capital deployment program aimed at creating up to $5 billion of value for shareholders, including returning more than $1 billion to shareholders over the next three years. As part of this program, Delta's Board of Directors has initiated a quarterly dividend and declared a $0.06 per share dividend for shareholders of record as of Aug. 9, 2013.

Jim Crites Nominated By The FAA For Leadership And Collaboration In Implementing NextGen And Other New Aviation Technologies

Jim Crites, the executive vice president for operations at DFW International Airport, has been selected by the White House as a Transportation Champion of Change, one of only 12 people selected nationwide for the honor. The Federal Aviation Administration nominated Crites for the recognition for his visionary work and leadership in developing and implementing new technologies, notably the nation's Next Generation Air Transportation System, known colloquially as "NextGen."

Boeing Rolls Out First 787 At Increased Production Rate

100th Airplane To Be Built At The Company's Everett, WA, Factory

Boeing has rolled out of the factory the first 787 Dreamliner to be built at the increased production rate of seven airplanes per month. The airplane, which rolled out earlier this week, is the 114th 787 to be built overall and the 100th 787 to be built at the Everett, WA, factory.
