Condit's Legacy

Phil Condit had a vision back in 1996. He believed the future of Boeing, which he'd just been tapped to lead as president and CEO, was not in commercial aviation, but in defense contracting. Condit surprised the aerospace world Monday by resigning, leaving his post to former Vice Chairman Harry Stonecipher.

Qantas Names Low Cost Carrier Jetstar and Orders Airbus A320s

Australian flagship carrier Qantas says its new low cost domestic airline will be called Jetstar. Qantas CEO Geoff Dixon, said the airline would use new Airbus A320 aircraft from June next year and would eventually have an all-A320 fleet. "Jetstar will fly new A320 aircraft featuring 177 leather seats and an inflight audio entertainment system," Dixon said.

A ceremony in Méaulte, France, was attended by French Minister of Equipment, Transport, Housing, Tourism and the Sea, Gilles de Robien, and by many personalities from the region, Airbus representatives and all the Airbus Méaulte personnel.
