Delta Union Plays Host to Labor Coalition

45,000 Nonunion Workers Represented at Unofficial Delta Summit

The Delta MEC played host to a meeting with fellow stakeholders, employees, and organizers to go over the state of the industry ahead of the 2023 holiday season. Delta pilots’ contract update last spring made it the envy of the industry for a brief time, and the Master Executive Council sought to carry that momentum into the rest of the company family in a recent meeting with heads of other employee groups. The Association of Flight Attendants (AFA-CWA), the International Association of Machinists Aerospace Workers (IAM) and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters each had representatives on hand to speak with the coalition.

Turkish Carrier Doubling its Collection of 737 MAXes

SunExpress, a combined business venture of Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa, went on a shopping spree for some more Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, signing a deal for up to 90 of the type at the recent Dubai Airshow. Turkey's "leading leisure carrier" will more than double its fleet into the next decade. The new sale agreement is firm on 28 737-8s and 17 737-10s. Options allow for up to 45 more 737 MAX family aircraft, should SunExpress choose to exercise them. That stands apart from their existing order for 42 aircraft, 9 of which joined the fleet already.
