FedEx Pilots Elect New MEC Chair

Billy Wilson Succeeds Chris Norman

The FedEx Master Executive Council (MEC) of the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA) has elected Captain Billy Wilson as chair for an interim term ending in March 2025. Captain Wilson will fill the vacancy left by his predecessor, Captain Chris Norman. Wilson is a 27-year FedEx pilot currently based in Memphis.

Air Canada Hold YUL Informational Picket

No Pilot Contract as Airline Posts Record Q3 Earnings

Joined by pilots from competing airlines, over two-hundred Air Canada pilots undertook an informational picket outside Montreal’s Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL) on 30 October 2023. The picket’s date and time corresponded with the release of Air Canada’s third-quarter 2023 earning call, wherein the Canadian flag-carrier reported record adjusted earnings of $1.83-billion EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization). The figure marked an increase of $733-million over 2022’s third-quarter, with an adjusted EBITDA margin of 28.8-percent—the highest of any major North American airline for the time-period.

Whoa???? LATAM Transports 196 Horses for Pan American Games Equine Events

When Horses Fly …

LATAM Cargo, the freight-carrying division of Chilean air-carrier LATAM Airlines Group S.A, will presently transport a total of 196 horses slated to compete in equine events part and parcel of the upcoming 2023 Pan America Games. The steeds will travel aboard a Boeing 767 freighter by which they’ll be borne from their home pastures and paddocks in Chile to destinations in the United States, Colombia, Ecuador, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Mexico, and Paraguay. After three-weeks of flying, galloping, cantering, jumping and side-passing across two continents, the horses will return to Chile, hopefully bearing victory’s garlands.
