Copa Airlines Announces Growth Plans, New Destinations

Plans To Add 10 Percent In Capacity Through New Airplane Purchases

Copa Airlines plans to acquire eight new Boeing Next Generation 737-800 aircraft in 2014, bringing its total fleet to 98 aircraft and increasing capacity by 10 percent. The airliner acquisitions will be made to facilitate the airline's plans to launch new direct flights from Panama to: Montreal; Canada, Fort Lauderdale, FL, and Georgetown, Guyana.

Open Allies And IATA Agree On Resolution 787 Conditions

Organizations Working to Establish Industry Forum with Other Stakeholders To Address Distribution Standard Setting

Open Allies for Airfare Transparency (Open Allies) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) have agreed to a set of conditions the two organizations are jointly recommending to the U.S. DOT in connection with Resolution 787. The two parties have been engaged in a productive dialogue on Resolution 787 since December, and they filed the proposed conditions with the DOT in a joint motion Wednesday.

Regulations On Access To Kiosks Violate Federal Law, Organization Says

The National Federation of the Blind (NFB) has filed suit in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia against the United States Department of Transportation (DOT). The suit challenges regulations, issued by the DOT under the Air Carrier Access Act (ACAA), which purport to require that airline check-in kiosks be made accessible to airline passengers who are blind.

Says Airline Is In Violation Of The Railway Labor Act For 'Unilaterally' Changing Terms Of Employment

United Airlines flight attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), say the are "outraged" at an attempt by United management to side-step United AFA representatives. Greg Davidowitch, AFA President at United, issued a statement Wednesday denouncing management's tactics as seeking to destroy jobs and to destroy the bargaining rights of the United flight attendants.
