The first mission to explore the Planet Mercury in more than
three decades began today with the successful launch of
NASA’s MESSENGER (MErcury Surface, Space, ENvironment,
GEochemistry and Ranging) spacecraft aboard a Boeing Delta II Heavy
launch vehicle.
