Acting FAA Administrator Daniel Elwell announced National Drone Safety Awareness Week, a planned series of nationwide events focused on the safe operation of drones, at the UAS Symposium held last week in Baltimore, MD. "We want everyone in on the conversation," he said. AUVSI will be a key partner in the week, including through Know Before You Fly, the public education campaign started by AUVSI, the Academy of Model Aeronautics and the FAA. 'Merger of Equals' Will Create A Premier Systems Provider With Advanced Technologies

Raytheon Company and United Technologies Corp. have entered into an agreement to combine in an all-stock merger of equals. The transaction will create a premier systems provider with advanced technologies to address rapidly growing segments within aerospace and defense. The merger of Raytheon, a defense company, and United Technologies, an aerospace company, comprised of Collins Aerospace and Pratt & Whitney, will offer a complementary portfolio of platform-agnostic aerospace and defense technologies. The combined company, which will be named Raytheon Technologies Corporation.
