Airborne 06.10.15: SpaceX Payday, CAP Finds Glider, Legend Cub Floats

NASA has approved a $30 million milestone payment to SpaceX under the agency's Commercial Crew Integrated Capability agreement with the company following a recent and successful pad abort test of its Crew Dragon spacecraft. An aircrew of the Civil Air Patrol’s New Mexico wing spotted the wreckage of a single-seat glider reported missing last Thursday after departing Moriarty Municipal Airport. The pilot of the glider did not survive the accident. CAP cell phone forensics and radar analysis teams allowed searchers to better focus their efforts. NASA Administrator Charles Bolden visited Northrop Grumman's Redondo Beach facility May 28 to see the progress on the agency's James Webb Space Telescope. Northrop Grumman is under contract to NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, and leads the industry team that designs and develops the Webb Telescope's optics, sunshield and spacecraft.
