Airborne 03.30.20: Dornier Seastar 1st Flt, April 1st Episode, Flt Schools

The prototype SN1003, a New Generation of the Dornier Seastar amphibious aircraft successfully performed its first flight last week at Oberpfaffenhofen EDMO airport, Germany. The flight was performed by Dornier Seawings test pilot crew and took 31 minutes. The Seastar SN1003 attained the required approvals from EASA and LBA on 19 March 2020, this was a major milestone and achievement for the program. Wolfram Cornelius, Chief Test Pilot, noted that, “First flight was completed successfully and confirmed the nice handling qualities of the Seastar. NASA's Curiosity Mars rover recently set a record for the steepest terrain it's ever climbed, cresting the "Greenheugh Pediment," a broad sheet of rock that sits atop a hill. And before doing that, the rover took a selfie, capturing the scene just below Greenheugh.
