Airborne 11.27.19: FAA Busts KSMO, 737 MAX 10 Debut, Homebuilt Accidents

It’s about time... after years of watching the FAA let the city of Santa Monica kill off one of California’s most vital airports, someone in Washington apparently has had enough. An aggressive Part 16 complaint made by a number of airport tenants, operators, the NBAA (whose leadership on this issue has been prominent), and others in 2016, resulted in an FAA investigation that found the city dealing fast and loose with airport funds, and its responsibility to operate lawfully, in accordance with FAA Airport Grant agreements. In the November 8th finding, the FAA ruled that the city was guilty and not in compliance with Grant Assurance 25, stating that it failed to meet requirements under the FAA

Spaceship Orion Takes Its First Voyage

Loaded Onto A Super Guppy Aircraft To Travel From Florida To Ohio

The Orion spaceship took off on board a Super Guppy aircraft from the Kennedy Space Center on Sunday, November 24: destination the world’s largest thermal vacuum chamber, owned by NASA. This is where the hot test phase of several months will begin for the spacecraft. The Super Guppy landed at Mansfield, Ohio. The transfer to Plum Brook Station in Sandusky, Ohio, took place Tuesday, November 26th.
