AMA Drone Report 10.05.17: New FAA Restrictions, Amimon DroneCam, UAS4STEM

At the request of U.S. national security and law enforcement agencies, the FAA is using its existing authority under 14 CFR § 99.7 – “Special Security Instructions” – to address concerns about unauthorized drone operations over 10 Department of the Interior (DOI) sites, including the Statue of Liberty and Mount Rushmore. This is the first time the agency has placed airspace restrictions for unmanned aircraft, or “drones,” over DOI landmarks. The FAA has placed similar airspace restrictions over military bases that currently remain in place. The restrictions will be effective October 5, 2017. Amimon is launching its new HX camera. The Transportation and Infrastructure twitter feed has been a continual source of frustration to aviators all over the nation. Day after day, week after week, the feed has made errant, insupportable and many say,  insufferable, statements supporting ATC Privatization... using 'facts' that are often errant, if not downright deceptive. It’s also been used by Representative Bill Shuster and his supporters to crow about the questionable support they've managed to coerce from a number of sources...
