U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx and FAA Administrator Michael Huerta have announced the creation of a multifaceted task force to develop recommendations for a registration process for Unmanned Aircraft Systems. The group will advise the Department on which aircraft should be exempt from registration due to a low safety risk, including toys and certain other small UAS. The task force also will explore options for a streamlined system that would make registration less burdensome for commercial UAS operators. Passed Away Last Week Following A Short Illness At The Age Of 97

The leader of NASA’s human spaceflight programs in the tumultuous 1960s, Dr. George E. Mueller died on Monday, October 12, 2015, after a short illness. Mueller effectively created, and headed, the Office of Manned Space Flight at NASA Headquarters (now the Human Operations and Exploration Mission Directorate) from 1963-1969. He was responsible for overseeing the completion of Project Apollo and of beginning the development of the Skylab and the Space Shuttle projects.

Scott Kelly Sets U.S. Record For Most Days In Space

Russian Cosmonaut's Record Remains Unchallenged

International Space Station Commander Scott Kelly set a new record today becoming the NASA astronaut with the most cumulative days in space, 383 days and counting. Mike Fincke, a two-time space station resident, was the previous record holder at 382 days. Kelly is scheduled to return to Earth on March 2, 2016, for a total of 522 days in space.
