NATA, A4A Praise Selection Of LoBiondo As Chair Of Aviation Subcommittee

FAA's William Hughes Technical Center Is Located In LoBiondo's District

The National Air Transportation Association (NATA) applauds the selection of Rep. Frank LoBiondo (R-NJ) to serve as the new Chairman of the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure's Aviation Subcommittee for the 113th Congress.

"Chairman LoBiondo (pictured) understands the vital role of general aviation to the Nation's economy," stated NATA President and CEO Thomas L. Hendricks. "Congressman LoBiondo is a capable and knowledgeable leader whose bipartisan work reflects the best interests of the general aviation community."

The FAA William J. Hughes Technical Center, one of the Nation's premier aviation research, development, test and evaluation facilities, is located in LoBiondo's district. This clearly provides a very insightful perspective into key developments that are driving the transformation of our national airspace system. "NATA is confident that Representative LoBiondo's distinguished service in Congress as well as his background as a successful small businessman will be valuable assets in addressing the interests of the general aviation business community," added Hendricks.

"In his many years of service on the committee, Chairman LoBiondo has demonstrated a tremendous understanding of the U.S. airline industry, its commitment to safety and customer service, and importance to the U.S. economy," said A4A President and CEO Nicholas E. Calio.  "His work across party lines has produced results on a wide range of transportation issues, including the FAA Modernization and Reform Act of 2012. We believe he will make a strong leader on the Aviation Subcommittee and look forward to working with him to implement a National Airline Policy that will enhance the economic viability and global competitiveness of the U.S. airline industry."

NATA members include fixed base operators, air charter operators, flight training providers, and maintenance and repair facilities, which provide thousands of jobs across the country and contribute $150 billion annually to the Nation's economy. A4A airline members and their affiliates transport more than 90 percent of all U.S. airline passenger and cargo traffic.
