Aeronautical Student Education Gains Momentum Around the World
The Experimental Aircraft Association’s AeroEducate program has passed the 40,000 registered user mark, an increase of more than 3,000 since the same time last year.
The online portal "engages youth, parents and teachers in the world of flight", offering educators and parents a suite of aeronautical teaching adjuncts to bring the real world into the classroom. The user base contains more than 35,000 current student users, ranging from 5 to 18 years of age. The AeroEducate database sports more than 31,000 different activities, spanning 5 discrete career areas. Some are individual do-it-yourself projects, others classroom activities, but all share the same theme: Bringing aviation into the reach of children everywhere.
The EAA was smart about bringing kids into the fold, gamifying the learning process with milestones and niceties like earning digital achievement badges that can be printed as certificates of accomplishment. The program offers 22 digital badges across 4 learning levels, each one representing a different section of the aeronautical world. More are on the way, hopefully showing up not long after AeroEducate hits 50,000 users.
“AeroEducate’s rapid growth in 2023 reflected the program’s improvement and expansion throughout the year,” said Paul Maloy, EAA Director of Education. “The continuous addition of new content in cooperation with our sponsors has reinforced the overall goal of AeroEducate to engage, inspire, and empower young people to see pathways to success in aviation and aerospace.”
