Spectrum Aero Moves To Larger Facilities At CRQ

Expands Utah Development Center

Spectrum Aeronautical tells ANN the planemaker has moved its headquarters to a new 8,000 square foot facility at McClellan-Palomar Airport (CRQ) in Carlsbad, CA.

"The new location at Palomar is ideal for us," said Spectrum President Austin Blue. "The airport provides excellent visibility for our aircraft programs, and its convenience is a real plus."

Before the move, Spectrum's operations were based from off-airport offices in Cardiff by the Sea, CA. The new facility is housed in the Jet Source complex at the airport.

"I'm excited by the move," said Spectrum Sales Director Gary Bushouse. "Palomar has a reputation for being the airport of choice for major corporations doing business in the San Diego area. It's traffic represents a wide cross-section of the type of operators that are purchasing our aircraft."

Spectrum also recently added a new 85,000 square foot facility to its Development Center just south of Provo, UT. The expansion brings the total size of that operation, which houses Spectrum's development, test and certification operations, to over 130,000 square feet.

"Spectrum's employment has tripled over the past two years," Blue adds, "and facilities expansion remains a key part of our strategic plan."

Spectrum is developing the S-33 Independence eight-seat very-light jet, and the larger S-40 nine-passenger Freedom jet. Both planes sport graphite-epoxy composite construction, which Spectrum says offers a larger cabin, at less than two-thirds the weight compared to aluminum-bodied jets.
