Polish Airshow Accident Kills Two Pilots

Su-27 Performing At Radom Near Warsaw

Two pilots were killed when a Russian-made Su-27 fighter went down while performing Sunday at an air show in the town of Radom, about 65 miles south of Warsaw in central Poland.

The Associated Press reports that video broadcast on Polish state television shows the Belarusian aircraft completing a maneuver, then falling behind some trees in a nose-high attitude. Black smoke then appears from the grove.

Neither pilot was able to eject from the aircraft. The Su-27 was one of two Belarusian aircraft participating in the show. The other was a cargo plane, according to Andrzej Sikorski, a spokesman for Poland's air force. The incident is under investigation, and the air show was suspended.

Breibart TV online reports that in 2007, two Polish aerobatic aircraft collided mid-air at the Radom air show, killing both pilots.
