Bombardier's Challenger 605 Earns FAA, EASA Approvals

Slated To Enter Service In Q3 2007

Bombardier Aerospace announced this week it has received European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approval for the new Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 avionics suite and for the increased size and re-located cabin windows aboard the widebody Challenger 605 business jet.

These key approvals, awarded October 24 by EASA and October 20 by the FAA, follow the original Transport Canada certification granted October 5.

This completes the initial certification effort for the Challenger 605 business jet, and prepares the aircraft for its scheduled entry into service in the third fiscal quarter of 2007. The news comes less than a year after the aircraft was launched at NBAA 2005.

Bombardier states the Challenger 605 features the widest stand-up cabin of any large-category business jet available today. It operates at a maximum cruise speed of Mach 0.82, and offers an increased payload capacity of 200 pounds with up to 12 passengers.

The aircraft is equipped with the Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 avionics suite that supports real-time satellite graphical weather and electronic charts to enhance situational awareness and reduce pilot workload, and features a state-of-the-art Ethernet-based Cabin Electronic System.
