AOPA Spent $640,000 On Lobbying In Second Quarter

Organization Spent Time (and Money) With Congress, TSA, FAA, EPA, CBO, And Others

AOPA made the rounds of elected officials and government agencies in Washington in April, May, and June. A financial disclosure form reports that the organization spent $640,000 in those three months on lobbying efforts in the Nation's Capital.

According to the Associated Press, most of the effort was focused on small airport and aviation regulation issues. They also were involved in legislation reauthorizing the FAA.

Among the other issues drawing AOPA's attention were greenhouse emissions, backcountry landing strip access and fuel issues. It also lobbied on an airworthiness directive affecting the Cessna 150 and 152 small aircraft, according to the form filed July 20 with the House clerk's office.

The organization also took a little time out for a little back-patting, lobbying the House in support of a resolution "Congratulating and saluting the 70th anniversary of AOPA," according to the disclosure.
