Drone Express' Courier Offers 85-Lb Payload

Delivery-Focused UAV Sports 20-Mile Range with Corporate Partners Ready to Go

Drone Express showed off their new DE-2023 Phoenix quadcopter, a small courier drone aimed squarely at the burgeoning UAV-delivery market. 

The model sits in that comfortable size range to carry payloads up to 85 pounds, covering a large breadth of packages in the domestic logistics chain. Range is adequate, with a 20-mile circle from its launch point allowing for passable coverage of a good chunk of the average metro area. With additional delivery hubs, that should do just fine. The usual navigational and safety aspects have been covered, too, ensuring customers can get their goods with a minimum of fuss, danger, or drama. While other aspirants to the drone delivery throne rely on small compartments, cubbies, or doggy bags for their parcel transit, the Drone Express' initial UAV model sports a comforting array of long vertical rails. It's a fine concept, allowing a wide variety of rigging to be used for nearly any package that can fit underneath the drone's footprint. Corporate partners like Kroger, Microsoft, and Papa Johns have already availed themselves of the company's early offerings.

"Our drone design represents a fusion of form and function that will set new industry standards," said Beth Flippo, Chief Executive Officer at Drone Express. "We are proud to introduce the Phoenix as a significant leap forward in drone delivery technology. This milestone reflects our dedication to creating solutions that streamline and elevate the delivery experience for businesses and customers."

Like most any tech-heavy company today, Drone Express offers a smartphone app to help integrate the system to customer lifestyles. The firm is "one of a select few companies that will attain a Part 135 certification for autonomous drone delivery" according to company press. They do not expound on how far along in that process they are today.
