'Ultralight' Pilot Suspected Of Alcohol Consumption In Crash

Neither Pilot Nor Passenger Were Injured When The Aircraft Went Down In A Minnesota Lake

The pilot of an 'ultralight' airplane (as reported) which went down in a lake in Sherburne County Minnesota is suspected of having consumed alcohol before flying the aircraft.

Sherburne County Sheriff Joel Brott says 46-year-old William Akes was arrested after his plane went down in Elk Lake. The St. Cloud Times reports that both the pilot and an adult passenger were pulled out of the water by a nearby boater. Deputies conducting an investigation discovered Akes was flying under the influence of alcohol.

Neither person involved was injured. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

And we know, they're supposed to be fun and easy to fly. But an 'ultralight' is still an airplane, folks, and they deserve the same respect.
