Jeppesen And Etihad Airways Sign EFB Service Contract

Charting And Flitedeck Pro Included In Electronic Flight Bag

Jeppesen and Etihad Airways, the national carrier of the United Arab Emirates, have agreed to a long term service contract that will provide the airline with paper and electronic charting and Jeppesen FliteDeck Pro electronic flight bag (EFB) applications to establish an integrated flight operations solution.

Abu Dhabi-based Etihad will receive Jeppesen's industry-leading charting navigation solutions through the agreement.  The agreement includes paper charting and access to Jeppesen eLink Online which provides web-based updated electronic terminal charts, documentation and other vital flight information.

"Jeppesen helps airlines transition from paper to digital flight information solutions and our new agreement with Etihad Airways provides future EFB solutions that reduce pilot workload and increase information and data flow efficiency," said Thomas Wede, Jeppesen senior vice president and general manager, Aviation.  "As Etihad Airways continues to grow its international operations, we will work with them to provide data solutions that best meets their needs and the demands of an evolving commercial marketplace."

"As an expanding global commercial carrier, we recognize the immediate and long-term value of the charting solutions," said Capt. Richard Hill, Etihad Airways chief operations officer. "By increasing situational awareness, reducing pilot workload and improving critical data flow, we anticipate that the information solutions provided will help us achieve greater operational efficiency and reduce overall costs."

Etihad Airways operates a fleet of 57 commercial aircraft and operates more than 1000 flights weekly.
