EAA's Wright Flyer Reproduction To Be Unveiled March 18

Then Flyer Goes On Tour

EAA's exact reproduction of 1903 Wright Flyer, the centerpiece of EAA's Countdown to Kitty Hawk powered flight centennial celebration, will be formally unveiled to the public on Tuesday, March 18, at 9 a.m. (EST) at Reagan National Airport in Washington (DC). The aircraft is set for unveiling at Hangar 7.

EAA's Countdown to Kitty Hawk, presented by Ford Motor Company, is a yearlong celebration highlighting powered flight's first 100 years, culminating in the re-creation of Orville Wright's first flight precisely at 10:35 a.m. (EST) on December 17, 2003, at Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina-100 years to the minute of the Wrights' first successful attempt.

The aircraft will make its first public appearance at the Sun 'n Fun EAA Fly-In, Lakeland, (FL), on April 2-8, where it will serve as the centerpiece of EAA's Countdown to Kitty Hawk touring pavilion.
Among the guests on March 18 will be EAA President Tom Poberezny; aircraft builder Ken Hyde of The Wright Experience; Amanda Wright Lane, grandniece of the Wright brothers; representatives of program sponsors Ford Motor Company, Microsoft, and Eclipse Aviation; plus other dignitaries.
