Airborne-OSH16 Day 1 Redux: Pelton Opens OSH16!, Textron Denali, Eclipse CANADA

Also: PS Engineering Update, Martin Mars Wows Oshkosh, Garmin Plays 'Me, Too' With STCs, Comprehensive Jack Pelton Intvw, Part 1

Note From The ANN E-I-C (Guy Who Takes The Blame): By the time that you read this, ANN's staff is either on its way home, at home in a semi-comatose state, or has checked at a home for wayward Aviators for a little rest and therapy. But, as we do each year after Oshkosh, we'll be repeating the amazing week, in sequence, over the next few days so you can catch up on all you might have missed -- as we rest up and get ready for the continuation of our regular news programming on the 8th of August. This is probably the last time we can get away with taking a post-OSH break, so we're going to enjoy it as much as we can...

EAA's Jack Pelton opened up Oshkosh 2016 with some initial remarks on a warm day, packed to the fences with airplanes. ANN’s Jim Campbell talked to Textron Aviation’s Michael Thacker at the unveiling of their new single engine turboprop that they call - The Denali.

Following that, Jim Campbell talked to ONE Aviation’s Alan Klapmeier to get more details about their new Eclipse Canada and filed this report. ANN’s Tom Patton talked to PS Engineering’s president Mark Scheuer about the TWO new products they brought to AirVenture 2016. ANN’s Chris Odom took the opportunity to get an inside look at what it takes to get the mighty Martin Mars underway. Mars pilot, Glenn Play, explains why it takes a crew of four to launch the world’s largest operating flying boat. On Sunday, the day before the official opening of AirVenture 2016, ANN News Editor, Tom Patton, stopped by the Garmin display to find out what’s new. It’s day one at EAA AirVenture 2016, but it’s not the first day for our ANN crew. ANN CEO and Editor-In-Chief, Jim Campbell, arrived more than a week early to build a fire in the steam engine that is ANN, and he spent part of that time interviewing EAA president, Jack Pelton. Here is the first of a five-part series that we’re sure you’ll find it interesting. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
