FAA Investigation: NJ Air Show Incursions

Four Separate Incidents Under Scrutiny

The FAA is investigating not one, not two, but at least four separate incursions into restricted airspace surrounding the 2003 Atlantic City (NJ) Air Show.

FAA spokesman Jim Peters said that there were three incursions during the practice day last Tuesday and at least one incursion on the following day, the day of the show.

A helicopter was observed hovering at 800 feet on Tuesday, he said, traveling from an airport in Monmouth County (NJ) to one in Sussex County (DL). Later that day, a single-engine Vans RV6 was spotted in the restricted airspace at about 11:30 a.m. It landed at the Ocean City Airport (NJ) afterward, he said. He had no information on the other incursions.
