Piper’s AirVenture conference didn’t have much meat on the bone for enthusiasts, but may provide a small window into where the company’s compass is pointing. Overall, the company was proud of its recent successes, coming off a record-making run of sales in 2022 to the tune of 230 aircraft. This year, the firm is on track to finish off with 270 in all. Piper dealers can barely hold on to stock, being sold out with names on the list for pretty much everything the company makes. Sure, Piper reps may see a couple M-350s, or 500s, or 600s in the system, but odds are dealers are eagerly eyeing each one to scoop them up for a client.
Brazil Home to EVE's First Mass Production Facility
Eve Air Mobility announced the location of its first production facility, naming the Brazilian state of São Paulo. The location will be located inside of expanded Embraer facilities. The company says the site "benefits from a strategic logistical location, offering easy access via two highways and close proximity to a railroad". In all likelihood, the firm also likes the labor costs of the region, too, though its proximity to nearby Embraer HQ and the EVE engineering department will help smooth out the transition to full production.
Trent 1000/Dreamliner Combo Set for Trip Between Heathrow and JFK Next November
Virgin Atlantic and Rolls-Royce have said that everything is looking good for their November 28th SAF flight from JFK to Heathrow. A series of successful ground tests involving the Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engine using their 100% SAF blend have proven promising for their planned timelines, which would put the pair on the books as the first flight to use synthetic aviation fuel for an international flight. The plan is to connect the London Heathrow and New York JFK airports with a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, using stock engines. MD Helicopters expects certification on a new STC for the MD 520N Helicopter by the end of 2023, adding a good deal of power and high-altitude performance. The STC will see the installation of the Rolls-Royce 250-C30 engine in the N-model 520, adding 300 pounds of payload, 15% more shaft horsepower on a hot day, a 15% increase of TOT margins, and better overall maintenance costs over the life of the aircraft. Once approved, the STC kit will be available at MDH Service Centers, with the upgrades taking about 2 months to reach completion on each aircraft.

On June 28, 2023, about 0858 eastern daylight time (EDT), Delta Air Lines flight 1092, a Boeing 717-200, sustained substantial damage when the nose landing gear did not extend before landing at Charlotte Douglass International Airport (CLT), Charlotte, North Carolina.
