Gross-er Than Most! DA42 Twin Star Receives Gross Weight Extension

Diamond's DA42 Twin Star has received European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) certification of a gross weight increase from 3,748 lbs (1700 kg) to 3935 lbs (1785 kg), concurrent with the known ice certification. FAA validation will follow shortly.

The 187 lbs gross weight increase, boosts the useful load of a well equipped Twin Star to 1174 lbs. "Even with the standard fuel tanks filled, a well equipped Twin Star offers 836 lbs of full fuel payload. It was important to us that our customers don't have to choose between enhanced safety and useful load and this is why the useful load increase was timed with the known ice certification", said Peter Maurer, President of Diamond Aircraft Industries.

"The combination of known ice certification and gross weight increase enhance the operational capability and safety of the Twin Star to a level unmatched by any price competitive airplanes."
