NASCAR Helps One Aviation Firm Race To Success

Airplane Cleaning Company Enjoys Racing Windfall

Stock car racing is big business in North Carolina... just ask Ryan Brenneman.

No, Ryan isn't a race car driver, or a mechanic... he cleans airplanes at Concord Regional Airport, and he says about 90 percent of his business comes from cleaning chartered planes and jets owned by such NASCAR stars as Kenny Schrader and Rusty Wallace, when they pass through Concord on business.

"I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for them," Brenneman, owner of Fly Clean Aviation Services, told the Charlotte Observer recently... and while he's always wanted to be a pilot, he says it's enough for him to be working around airplanes.

"Isn't the goal to find something you like to do and make a job of it?" he asks.

Of course, the money he takes in helps make the job more palatable, too... as Brenneman has come a long way from the one-man operation he started 10 years ago, living off of credit cards... in recent years, has allowed him to buy a home, and expand his staff.

"It's taken awhile, but we're getting there," he said. "I'm glad I made the decision I made."
