A4A Praises Long-Term FAA Reauthorization

Calio: Law Provides Stability To The Agency

In a statement released following President Donald Trump's signing of the FAA Reauthorization bill, Airlines for America president and CEO Nicholas Calio released a statement congratulating Congress and the President for their actions.

"Signing a long-term reauthorization bill into law provides stability for the FAA to uphold the highest levels of safety we have today, while providing certainty for the millions of passengers and countless businesses that rely on access to safe, affordable travel and shipping options every day," said Calio.

Calio congratulated House Transportation and Infrastructure Chairman Bill Shuster (R-PA), Ranking Member Peter DeFazio (D-OR), along with Senate Commerce Committee Chairman John Thune (R-SD) and Ranking Member Bill Nelson (D-FL), for successfully reaching across the aisle to negotiate and deliver the first bipartisan, bicameral five-year authorization of the FAA since 1982.

In addition, Calio specifically thanked the outgoing chairmen for their years of service at the committee level.

"Chairmen Shuster and Thune have served as strong, distinguished voices in Congress. They have been leaders on issues that impact the aviation industry, consumers and the workforce," added Calio. "We are grateful for their service. Their efforts will continue to benefit travelers and shippers for years to come."
